Meet The Team

Kirk Russell

I have 35 years of experience in treating a wide variety of sports injuries. Clients include England Cricket, Birmingham Phoenix, Northamptonshire & Gloucestershire County Cricket, Northampton Saints Rugby, Tottenham Hotspur F.C and the London Olympics. I have helped many athletes rebuild fitness quickly and effectively after injury, with a focus on long-term re-education and specific ongoing rehab. I have worked in a range of local private schools, providing physiotherapy for both children and treating sports injuries for young athletes. I work with many local surgeons, and have helped a wide range of patients recover from surgery – something I have personal experience with after having hip replacements in the last 6 years!

My experience in professional sport has shaped my approach to physio. I’ve learnt from experience that small changes to posture and movement can be transformative. My focus is always on the long-term, so rather than treating a symptom in isolation, I look holistically at each patient. My treatment plans are devised with biomechanics and musculoskeletal presentation in mind alongside lifestyle and ergonomic factors. I’m hands-on and practical, and use a range of tools and treatments to suit the individual.

Dan Smith

I’m a Chartered and HCPC registered Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a BSc degree in Physiotherapy (2016) and a PGcert (Masters level) Qualification.

In my 9 Years of working as a physiotherapist I have worked in the elite academy football for Southampton FC and in the NHS, gaining experience in many areas such as post-op recovery, complex pain, learning difficulties and elderly rehabilitation. However, the majority of my experience was in the management of musculoskeletal injuries in outpatients incuding working with children.
I currently work as a Clinical Spinal Specialist alongside Spinal Orthopaedic Teams. I am also one of around 4’000 Trained First Contact Practitioners in the UK. First Contact Practitioners are trained at Masters Level, using advanced diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills to help identify a diagnosis and exclude concerning causes for your symptoms.

My specialist interest is in the management of back pain. My philosophy is to work closely with the patient to help identify the root cause of the issue and then provide the options that can help improve your condition. Together we will formulate a plan to help you restore movement and confidence in doing the things you enjoy.

Annick Foxton

After completing my BSc Physiotherapy in 2020, I have worked alongside hockey teams and basketball teams in the Netherlands, before beginning my career in the NHS.

During my NHS experience, I have grown a keen interest in back pain and sports injuries.

With a deep understanding of the physical and emotional challenges that come with recovery, I pride myself in helping patients regain confidence after episodes of back pain with individualized treatment, combining manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and patient education.

Whether supporting recovery from injury, surgery or managing long-term back pain, I’m committed to delivering the highest standard of care, guiding patients every step of the way towards lasting recovery

Will Darvill

An empathic and knowledgeable physiotherapist currently working in the NHS with clients requiring recovery post operatively whilst also working with high level athletes looking to return to competitive match play.

Alongside my work with musculoskeletal conditions I have also gained experience working with clients suffering from respiratory complications as well as those with learning disabilities. This has allowed me to view clients more holistically and identify the impact specific injuries can have on a person’s overall functioning.

For those clients looking to better their playing careers in a sporting sense I can offer a variety of manual techniques and a deep understanding of body biomechanics which I have gained through my years of working with Avonvale RFC and Frome RFC. I have a special interest In rugby and golf however take pride in rehabbing clients to a level allowing them to return and compete in their chosen sport.

I myself have experienced what its like to receive treatment from Physiotherapists and continue to play competitive sport but am also appreciative of the positive impact it can have on those suffering with multiple comorbidities and their journey to return to daily activities.
